The Viral Genomics and Infection Dynamics Laboratory, led by Professor Dr. Md. Golzar Hossain, investigates the evolution, transmission, and host interactions of viruses affecting humans and animals. The lab integrates viral genomics, molecular epidemiology, host-virus interactions, and computational biology to study emerging viral diseases and develop inactivated, attenuated, and chimeric vaccines from locally circulating viral isolates.

Research focuses on animal, human, and zoonotic viruses-including hepatitis B virus, human pappiloma virus, DENV, influenza viruses, SARS-CoV-2, LSDV, FPV, CAV and NDV using genomics, phylogenetics, immunoinformatics, and outbreak investigations to advance disease surveillance and vaccine development.
