Viral Genome Sequencing and Evolutionary Dynamics
The lab has been extensively investigating the partial and complete genome characterization of emerging and re-emerging viruses in Bangladesh—including avian influenza (H5N1), fowlpox virus, chicken anemia virus (genotype IIIb), lumpy skin disease virus, feline panleukopenia virus, hepatitis B virus, and others. These studies provide critical insights into mutation patterns, lineage shifts, antigenic variation, and phylogenetic relationships that are essential for effective surveillance and intervention strategies. Several research and review articles have already been published in internationally reputed journals.
Livestock and Poultry Vaccine Development
Our team has been isolating various livestock and poultry viruses and performing partial and complete genome sequencing to support the development of inactivated and attenuated vaccines. The lab is also working to establish a platform for developing chimeric vaccines. Additionally, we design next-generation viral vaccines using computational and structural biology tools. This includes multi-epitope vaccines for HPV, membrane-protein–based vaccine candidates for LSDV, and immunoinformatics-driven analyses to identify cross-protective viral antigens. These projects strengthen our translational research efforts toward future-ready vaccine platforms.
